Today may be the most surprising day of the journey. After breakfast, we descend the Cascade Mountains following the Wenatchee River to the mighty Columbia. It’s hard to ignore the geology of this region as it surrounds us as we pass through Hanford Reach National Monument on our way to Red Mountain. We’ll enjoy lunch at a winery in Washington’s smallest wine growing region. After lunch, we’ll continue to follow the river as we pass Wallula gap on our return to Walla Walla.
