"We knew we would be traveling by train and motor coach to Leavenworth and Walla Walla and having some wine tasting along the way. What we did not know was how luxurious and inviting the accommodations would be, how picturesque the scenery, how delicious the food and wine, how much we would learn about the people, the history, the land, the bountiful crops and the waterways. The apple tasting was(almost) as much fun as the wine tasting. There was something for everyone from shopping, to museums, to hikes, to art walks, to delightful restaurants and great company. Guy loves his state and loves sharing its beauty and history. And I am thrilled to have been a part of the tour."

A group of us went on the NW Wine & Rail Tour!, what a kick. Great accommodations, food and of course wine. But also, some out of the way places and history of the area that I really did not expect. The Tour Director may all of us feel welcomed and he was very attentive to details which made this tour a 5 star experience.

Northwest Wine & Rail Tour - 5 days

Ride the rails and take a journey to the heart of Eastern Washington and Wine Country. Admire the striking Mountain views and enjoy the quaint Bavarian charm of Leavenworth. Grand vistas of the expansive Columbia River, authentic pioneer history, and world-class wines await you in Walla Walla, Washington’s friendliest town. Sun-kissed Yakima Valley offers the largest variety of fresh-grown produce in the Pacific Northwest – grapes for wine, hops for beer, and fresh produce for your table.

Unparalleled scenic stops will offer you an unforgettable experience of this diverse region before we wind our way through the heavily wooded and volcanically formed Cascadia Range and back to beautiful Seattle.

Seattle > Leavenworth > Walla Walla

Meet your InquisiTours Tour Director at Seattle King Street Station in the afternoon (3:30 pm) to board the Amtrak Empire Builder. As Seattle fades into the distance, you can relax back and gaze at the ever-changing scenery from your window. Admire the glimmering waters of Puget Sound, the tree-clad Cascade Mountains, and the blend of colors in Wenatchee National Forest, before pulling into the fairytale-like Bavarian mountain hamlet of Leavenworth, aglow in the evening light. Overnight.

Let the Alpine magic of Leavenworth envelop you on a morning stroll through its quaint streets lined with timber-framed houses, nestled into the lush green mountainside. Relax riverside as you discover nature trails and explore the outlying valley, or fill your day fully immersed in all this picturesque town has to offer. The time is yours to spend how you choose. With enchanting attractions like the Nutcracker Museum, wine tasting, and rows of charming little stores with handcrafted items and boutique clothing, there’s plenty to engage you during your stay. In the evening, we’ll get together for a festive reception featuring authentic German cuisine and original craft ales to complement the Bavarian mood. Overnight.

Following that we make our way through charming pastoral scenery to Walla Walla, where our day will complete with a brief walking tour to get you acquainted with this friendly community of creative wine-lovers. Spend the rest of the day soaking up the eclectic vibe of this vibrant town, choosing from an optional excursion, or simply getting the lay of the land, exploring, shopping, visiting the art galleries and boutiques, or dropping into one of the numerous tasting rooms around town. Whatever you do, you will want to be back in time for a special multi-course dinner.
