Tour the beautiful countries of Slovenia and Croatia

4-days guided sightseeing and touring Slovenia by land, 8-days Croatia Adriatic Sea Cruise aboard the deluxe Stella Maris, from Porec to Dubrovnik.

 

Slovenia, located in Central Europe, known for its mountains, caves, ski-resorts, lakes, and the capital city of Ljubljana. Steeped in historic churches, local wineries, architecture, lots of green space and riverbanks lined with cafes, pubs, and boutiques. Its neighbor, Croatia, with a long coastline and rich history on the Adriatic Sea, encompassing more than a thousand islands, it’s also crossed by the Dinaric Alps.

Upon arrival to Ljubljana International Airport (LJU Jože Pučnik Airport) meet and greet and transfer to your hotel. Free time to freshen-up before meeting your tour manager and fellow travelers at the welcome dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight.

A morning walking tour of Slovenian capital, Ljubljana includes sights of the old city center, featuring the picturesque open-air Central Market, Cathedral, Three Bridges, Baroque Town Hall, and Robba’s Fountain. The remainder of the day is at leisure to discover the capital on your own.

Breakfast at your hotel. This morning, travel to Bled, beautifully set in the Julian Alps. A sightseeing tour features the charming town, the lakeshore, and a visit to the imposing Bled Castle. Enjoy some time at leisure to discover this quaint city on your own, perhaps shop for souvenirs or taste typical Bled cream cake. Following, drive to the heart of the Triglav National Park, as we visit Bohinj. Surrounded by alluring summits, the Bohinj Valley charms visitors with its inspiring scenery; crystal clear lake waters and the harmonious coexistence of man and nature. The picturesque lakeside boasts the frescoes of Church of St. John the Baptist. You will have time to discover the legend of Zlatorog (Goldhorn) and enjoy a stunning view over mount Triglav. Visit the Sheppard Museum and enjoy cheese of the region, before we drive back to our hotel in Ljubljana.

Head south to Postojna, home to one of the largest caves in Europe. Tour this fantastic subterranean world by miniature electric train. Afterward, continue to Sezana for a visit to a local winery and its cellars, and wine tasting. Our last stop is in Porec where you will board a cruise. Settle in your cabin, before attending a welcome reception followed by dinner this evening.

As you sail along the Istrian Peninsula. stop in a romantic town of Rovinj. Feel its past times as you walk around the Old Town’s cobbled narrow streets, winding at the foot of the Church of St. Euphamia, the favorite gathering place of artists from around the world. Continue sailing to the Brijuni National Park, once the personal State Summer Residence of President Marshal Josip Broz Tito. Arriving at the island, a part of heaven discloses in front of your eyes in the unique harmony of flora, fauna, and heritage. Following the visit, lunch aboard, before we reach Pula, arguable one of the most beautiful of Istrian cities. Your guide will share some exciting stories of antiquity, as you walk the footsteps of the ancients and visit the Amphitheatre. The rest of the day is at leisure in lovely Pula.

Morning visit of Mali Losinj, located in the island with the same name. Thanks to its mild climate, pinewoods, and air, the island of Mali Losinj is an ideal place to your body and spirit. Lunch aboard, while continuing our journey towards Zadar, with a swimming stop at one of the small islands along the way. Dinner aboard, while we set our compass south to Zadar.

After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Zadar, a city of exceptional history and rich cultural heritage. Zadar historical center is a compact pedestrian zone, perfect to explore on foot. Set out on a walking tour and admire the old walls built in 16th century by Venetians as a defense from Turks. You will also see the 16th century Port Gate where the Venetian lion still guards the entrance, the Square of the Five Wells, Church of St. Donat, the Roman Forum and the largest cathedral in Dalmatia, St. Anastasia. Return to the ship and enjoy your lunch, while sailing to Vodice. Next up is Krka National Park, with its magnificent waterfalls. After your visit here, coach to Primosten where your yacht is anchored. Your evening is at leisure in town.

Welcome to Split! Start the day with a walking tour, featuring the historic inner city built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. See the remnants of Split’s Roman heritage, its Renaissance and Gothic structures, Jupiter’s Temple and the Cathedral. Board your ship for lunch, and cruise towards Hvar, Croatia’s sunniest island. Hvar is a favorite holiday destination for international celebrities and architecture waiting to be explored. On a walking tour breathe in the pine-scented breeze, as you absorb vistas of this as your point of reference before exploring the labyrinth of backstreets of town, pop into craft shops, cafes and restaurants, tucked into old Venetian palaces.

This morning, the clear waters of the Adriatic will bring us to our next destination: the magical island of Korcula and its fairy-tale like walled town bearing the same name believed to be the birthplace of the explorer Marco Polo. Enjoy breakfast on board, before we discoverthe walled city with a local guide. The walking tour takes you through its narrow, cobbled streets and includes a visit to the majestic Gothic-Baroque Cathedral of St. Mark, before returning to the boat for lunch. As you dine, set sail for Mljet Island. Mljet National Park features five types of forest, many species of birds, and two deep lakes, Big and Small Lake. Captain’s dinner with live entertainment aboard our ship tonight.
